Wonderful love story of Zack and Lizzie. I love Amish stories. Zack's brother Abraham's wife had died leaving him with seven children, Lizzie's mother advised her to marry Abraham saying because of her disability she may not get another offer of marriage. Two years into the marriage Abraham dies. Zack the heir to the farm returns. Lizzie is afraid that Zack will take the children and the farm. But God had other plans. Loved all of the secondary characters.Tags : The Amish Mother (Lancaster Courtships) [Rebecca Kertz] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Unexpected Love

Amish widow Lizzie Fisher loves her seven stepchildren as though they were her own. Bught for my mom...she loved it.
Great light read.
Bought for my wife. she is looking for more.
Lizzi married Abraham three weeks after his wife's death. He had seven children and they needed a mother quickly. He wad grieving too much to care fir them. Lizzi is a cripple, having a bad hip which when she was tired or tried to do some strenuous duties would give her a lot of pain and make her limp. She was tiny, but determined to get things done. Her mother encouraged her to marry Abraham, so she did.
Two years later, Abraham had an accident in the barn and Lizzi found him dead. At nineteen she was now the sole parent of seven children. Abraham had never talked about family, but a couple months after he died, she found information and wrote a letter saying she had married Abraham two years ago and that he had died two months ago. He had never told his family of his first wife's death or that he had re-married. His brother and sister came out to check on this strange new wife they knew nothing about. The farm was supposed to go to the brother and planned to send Lizzi packing and keep the farm and take over with the children. That all changed when he arrived and saw that she was a hard worker and how the children cared for her.
I loved this story. It covers death, step-children, single parenting, and how held back information can make things seem different. I would most definitely recommend reading this story.
I really enjoyed this book. I admire the beliefs of the Amish people. The world today, does not have very many strong and good beliefs. Their example of family and caring for one another is so nice to read about. The book was well written. I gave this book five star.
Definitely held my interest all the way to the end.
Stayed up too late two nights!
If they would only have communicated more
